life with a gas mask: Jump rope!

- the world's first commercially sold coin-operated video game

Computer Space is a video arcade game released in November 1971 by Nutting Associates. Created by Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney, who would both later found Atari, it is generally accepted that it was the world's first commercially sold coin-operated video game.

Nautilus Home Theater

Based on the vessel from the Disney movie classic 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, this private, 10-seat residential home theater completely immerses the moviegoers in dimensional rusty steel that would make even Captain Nemo feel at home.
Tufted red velvet panels, a hand sculpted screen surround, and molded squid medallions complimented the other finishes in the space..
Complete with portholes that provide views into the murky depths, a full-scale replica of the movie dive suit, and a specimen case, the only thing missing is Peter Lorre!

really cool...: Ice Cream People Art Show Wrap Up at Kidrobot Miami

Only in Miami can you have an ice cream party in December. Last Saturday night was the tasty opening for the collaborative exhibition, Ice Cream People: A Collection of Evidence by Brian Butler at Kidrobot Miami. Everyone in attendance contributed to the show by sketching on the ice cream wall installation and indulged in free ice cream served up by Brian throughout the evening. The Ice Cream People art show will be on display until January 26.

Filmography 2010 -- (270 in 6 minutues)

This year's movies have legitimately transformed my idea of what is creatively possible. To commemorate, I've remixed 270 of them into one giant ass video.

Note: My film selection process was fairly open; anything that was either produced or distributed in 2010 was fair game (I also consulted this Wikipedia entry). This is why some movies are labelled 2009 or 2011 on IMDB.

Also, this by no means constitutes a comprehensive list of films that came out in 2010. That would have been exhausting.

Tame Impala: 'Expectation' (VIDEO) -- pleasant all the way round

(via Pitchfork)
In their video for "Expectation", a track from the BNM'ed 2010 album Innerspeaker, Aussie psych-rockers Tame Impala rock out in the middle of the forest. But the real star of the clip is director Clemens Habicht's trippy, panoramic effect, which keeps the camera swirling around and the entire band in the frame the whole time. When one member disappears through one side, he reappears in the other-- sort of like how you could exit one side of the screen in Pac-Man and immediately show up on the other side.

Original Art (That-Hatland) - [link]

As a Salvador Dali´s fan I love surreal art and I used to made a lot of surreal things a long time ago. When I saw this draw I just fall in love. In Brazil we have a quote that say "Oque os olhos não vêm, o coração não sente" that means "What eyes can´t see, the heart can´t fell", based on it I tried to paint this confused fellling.

Please show some love on That-Hatland profile and I hope you all like it!

I Met the Walrus - Levitan Meets Lennon (animated short)

(Thanx Hesta Prynn)

In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan snuck into John Lennon's hotel room in Toronto and convinced him to do an interview. 38 years later, Levitan, director Josh Raskin and illustrators James Braithwaite and Alex Kurina have collaborated to create an animated short film using the original interview recording as the soundtrack. A spellbinding vessel for Lennon's boundless wit and timeless message, I Met the Walrus was nominated for the 2008 Academy Award for Animated Short and won the 2009 Emmy for 'New Approaches' (making it the first film to win an Emmy on behalf of the internet).

He Doesn't Love You... by *bobbyzeik

He Doesn't Love You... by *bobbyzeik
this is the first piece of a new series i'm working on. it was inspired by the anger and frustration i would get whenever i would see a bumper sticker that read "Marriage = Man +Woman" and things of that nature. Such ignorance and intolerance makes me furious. So the initial idea was to bomb around images such as this one, and shove these images of beauty into the faces of the ignorant. i also plan on making stickers to slap on the bumpers of these idiots who actually believe that only men and women can/should love each other. it just so happened though that i got into an exhibition that these pieces seemed perfect for, so that jump-started the series. here's a link in info for the exhibition itself: "Lavender Tears".
